Betty "Carol" Winkler

Betty “Carol” Winkler, 87, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Carol was born April 6, 1939 in Cabell County, West Virginia to the late Ira and Nellie Scarberry. Carol retired from Oak Rubber and worked for many years at JCPenney outlet. She attended Thornville Church of the Nazarene for many years. Carol was an avid dog lover.

She is survived by 4 grandchildren Jeffrey (Angie) Nicholson, Amanda Nicholson, Joseph (Jessica) Burns, and Aimee Burns; 7 great grandchildren Samual, Aunika, Hailey, Cameron, Isabella, Chance, and McKenna; 2 great great grandchildren Cecilia and Lilith; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Winkler; daughters Toni Nicholson, Tina Burns, and Tamela Shiflett; her parents; brothers Doyle Scarberry, Wesley Scarberry, Thomas Scarberry, and Allen “Gene” Scarberry; and sister Sherri Triplett.

Visiting hours are from 11:00am to 1:00 pm and the service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, 207 S. Main St., Baltimore, OH 43105. Burial will take place in the Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
