James "Tom" Orr

December 20, 1949 — July 23, 2025

Vandalia, Oh

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Tom” Orr, a beloved father, grandfather and friend who passed away. Tom was born in Miami, Florida, on December 20, 1949. Tom embarked on a journey that would see him touch countless lives both personally and professionally.

Tom began his career at Philip Morris, where he honed his skills and built strong relationships as a dedicated salesman. Driven by ambition and an entrepreneurial spirit, he went on to establish his own successful business, Allied Industrial Sales. Tom merged business acumen with his signature humor and exuberance—qualities that endeared him to everyone he encountered.

Known for his infectious energy, Tom was truly the life of the party. Whether it was a family gathering, or dinner with friends, his quick wit could brighten any room. He had an uncanny ability to always know how to deliver the perfect joke at just the right moment.

Tom was also a remarkable gourmet cook. He found joy in preparing beautiful meals for those he loved, and his kitchen was often filled with the aroma of his latest culinary creation.

An avid golfer and proud member of the Troy Country Club, Tom could often be found on the green, clubs in hand, sharing stories and perfecting his swing. His love for the game was matched only by the friendships he built through it.

His proudest accomplishments were rooted deeply in his family. He leaves behing his son Jonathan (Jordyn) Orr and his daughter, Michelle (Alek) Stemen. Also the light of his life shone brightest in the eyes of his grandchildren—Jaxson and Sofia Orr, and Beckett, Kollyns, and Harper Stemen—each grandchild a unique thread in the rich tapestry of love he wove around him. They could do no wrong in his eyes, and he reveled in thier times of joy and laughter.

Tom's affection extended beyond his immediate family to his beloved siblings, Dan (Betty) Orr and Carol (Larry) Byrum, along with the joyful chaos brought by several cherished nieces and nephews.

He departed this world on July 23, 2025, at the age of 75, leaving a wake of cherished memories, laughter, and love in the hearts of those who knew him. Tom’s parents, Norva and Phyllis Aller Orr, await his joyful reunion, but until then, his legacy continues to thrive in the tales shared, the laughter echoed, and the lessons of life he imparted.

As per his request, Caring Cremation has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Donations to help Tom's lasting legacy continue on will be towards Tom's grandchildren's college fund and can be directed to the family via Venmo at the account of Michelle  which is :        @Michelle-Stemen1
