Norma Faye (Ball) Nutter, 97 years young, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Norma was born in Lancaster, Ohio and lived there for almost 95 years. It was the place where Norma grew up and met her beloved husband, Jim. Norma was married to Jim for almost 74 years. They met when they were in the fifth grade and Norma played hard to get, even waiting until after high school to date Jim. Norma attended Lancaster City Schools and then began working right after high school. She held a few jobs but the one that she held close to her heart was being a school secretary. For several decades, she worked at different schools throughout Lancaster in the front office.
Norma was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and organized many high school reunions. Norma loved being around people and helping others. She sang in the church choir and enjoyed the traditional service at church. Norma and her husband, Jim, traveled to many tropical places. Some of her favorites included Hawaii and Florida. Norma was instrumental in organizing family reunions for many years. She was famous for bringing her anise cookies to the reunion. Family was very important to Norma and she doted on her beloved nieces and nephews. Norma and Jim took their nieces and nephews on many trips to Florida and Gettysburg.
Norma is survived by her beloved husband, Jim, of 73 years, her brother, Kenneth Ball, and sister Martha (Ball) Reisbeck. Norma is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Those that she was especially close to include Rodney (Chris) Ball, Julie (Bryan) Davis, and Todd (Mary) Burnside.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Elza D. and Julia B. (Kohler) Ball, and her siblings, Elsie (Ball) Burnside and Marvin Ball.
Many thanks to Riverside Hospital, The Avalon of Lewis Center, and the Kobacker house for the dignity and care that they showed Norma these past few months.
